Damp grass soft under my bare feet. Basket in hand.
With child like anticipation I make my way to my garden.
I fill my basket and my soul with the bounty I did grow.

I live a fairly drama free life. Other than the occasionally teenage parent drama, which is common place and a part of the transition from teenager to adulthood. My husband and I deal with drama in our professional lives and don’t want to deal with it when we get home. We are both pretty laid back in our relationship and interactions with each other. I also do a pretty good job of avoiding friends, family, and places that are havens for drama.
However, there is one area I in which I find I must tread cautiously. I feel my purpose in life is to help others. I tried to do this in big and small ways everyday. What I must be aware of is the fact that there are people out there who don’t want help. They want to drag you into the drama with them. Maybe it somehow validates it for them. I don’t know all the reasons but when I unwitting find myself being pulled in to the drama, I stop allowing myself to be pulled and I draw a line in the sand. The line is the edge of the drama. I will stand on the drama free side and gladly extend my hand and pull them across but I refused to be pulled across that line to their side. If they continue to try I walk away.
Butterscotch is our red tabby who is also known as the Evil Genius. For the longest time he was the only one who knew how to work the treat ball and treat tower. He understands how the doors work he just can’t get his paws to turn the knobs. He is fascinated by the toilet. He is generally more curious than scared of new people and things. He loves games. The laundry game. A game Butterscotch invented and I reluctantly play. Our goals are very different. His goal is to grab as many clothing items as possible as I move them from the laundry bin to the laundry bag. My goal is to move items as quickly as possible from the laundry bin to the laundry bag, without getting clawed. There is also the Bed Making game which is a game where he tries to hide under and grab the sheets as you are trying to make the bed. His all time favorite game is fetch and catch. If you throw a hair tie he will chase it. However, he prefers you throw it directly at him enabling him to catch it directly out of the air in his mouth or paws. Video of this activity is in the works. In spit of his name, he is also the peacekeeper of the bunch. He is the only one who gets along well with all the kitties. He is the silent one of the group and only rarely speaks. The result is when he says something we tend to listen. Who knows maybe it is all part of his master plan.
I have dreamed many wonderful dreams that have come true because my mother told me they could and I believed her.
Bright yellow yolks melting over garden green asparagus with a butter glow, lightly sprinkled with swirls of parmesan cheese. A bite. A calm within the chaos of the day.
Good Afternoon. I stopped by the store on my way home and picked up dinner. Whole steamed fish with veggies. Blackberries with blue cheese and honey for dessert. Yum! I normally have the fish monger decapitate the fish before I take it home. I didn’t today. Why? This fish was a living breathing creature who gave its life to provide nourishment for my family. The least I can do is look it in the eyes and thank it for its sacrifice. Don’t get me wrong I don’t want to but I think it is the right thing to do. So I told myself suck it buttercup and took the whole fish home. Well, I guess it time to go look the fish in the eyes. Enjoy your dinner! I am Katrina by the way. There will some information about me up on my about page soon!
