I have been a busy bee. I spent the last weekend in June in Denver at Mile High Blues. I had the opportunity to dance with dancers of all skill levels. They each had their own style of dancing and leading. I also attended several workshops. It was a wonderful weekend and I learned aContinue reading “What’s up!”

Dancing
I competed in my first ballroom dance competition this past weekend. The picture is of the dress I wore for the latin/rhythm dances (Cha-Cha, Rumba, and East Coast Swing). I also competed in smooth dances (Foxtrot, Waltz, and Tango). I had a blast and definitely have competition fever. Next one is at home in September.Continue reading “Dancing”
It wasn’t mine not to give.
For thirty-three years it was a part of me. Yet, when I got the call I knew it had never really been mine. I was merely the custodian. I guess that is why I didn’t hesitate to do what most people thought a courageous act of kindness. You see to me there was only oneContinue reading “It wasn’t mine not to give.”
That’s my kind of crazy
“That’s my kind of crazy.” said my hair dresser as I relayed my exploits from the weekend. I have been taking Ballroom Dancing lessons for a couple of months. Saturday, we had a Bedrock Themed Dance. I spent Friday scouring the thrift’s store racks in search of something animal print to no avail. I wentContinue reading “That’s my kind of crazy”
Learning to be me one scene at a time
When I was a freshman in high school I signed up for Drama class. Although, I was the toddler waving from the stage during my first ballet performance; in the intervening years I had grown into a shy reserved person. I decided to sign up for the Drama class because my cool older cousin wasContinue reading “Learning to be me one scene at a time”
My Yoga
I breathe in and out, more slowly with each breath. Focusing on my breathing, I steer my mind back when it wonders. The Celtic music both calming and uplifting plays softly in the background. I move through the poses requiring my mind to focus on my movements and my breath. The hunger but a distanceContinue reading “My Yoga”
Frenzied Thoughts
I should be sleeping. It is Saturday and I don’t have anywhere to be until 10:00am, which these days is a blessed respite. Yet, it is 6:00am and I am wide awake. Frenzied thoughts blast rapid fire through my brain leaving me dizzy, even though I am laying down. Fortunately, one of the benefits ofContinue reading “Frenzied Thoughts”
The Swing
A piece of wood and some rope hanging from a tree in my yard. These two simple items create a simple swing. Yet, my swing is far from simple. It is a reconnection with my inner child and the boundless hope she possesses. When my feet finally touch the ground again my troubles seem lighterContinue reading “The Swing”
Bounty
Damp grass soft under my bare feet. Basket in hand. With child like anticipation I make my way to my garden. I fill my basket and my soul with the bounty I did grow.
Drama: A Line in the Sand
I live a fairly drama free life. Other than the occasionally teenage parent drama, which is common place and a part of the transition from teenager to adulthood. My husband and I deal with drama in our professional lives and don’t want to deal with it when we get home. We are both pretty laid backContinue reading “Drama: A Line in the Sand”
